GVN Foundation Grants - August 2011

The GVN Foundation has recently made the following grants:

VSN Nepal

An Everest Hike grant of $2,643.42 has been sent to VSN in Nepal to cover this quarter’s running costs for Brighter Future Children’s Home.

Huchuy Yachaq

An ESTC grant of $5,000 has been sent to Huchuy Yachaq community center in Peru. The funds will be used to fund a jewellery workshop to empower women from the community and give them a new source of income for their families.

Peruvian Hearts

An ESTC grant of $14,359.50 is being sent to Peruvian Hearts to fund the first year of the Peruvian Promise Program. The grant will be used fund scholarships, school uniforms, textbooks, school supplies and experiential retreats for 16 girls. In addition this ESTC grant will fund a breakfast program at Lamay school for 360 students for one year.

An International Fundraiser grant of $258.59 is being sent to Peruvian Hearts to support 5 children at Wara community center.

A Sponsorship grant of $79.86 is being sent to Peruvian Hearts to help with the ongoing running costs at the Hogar Mercedes de Jesus in Peru.

GVN Vietnam

An International Fundraiser grant of $503.24 has been combined with a Bike Trip grant of $696.76 to complete the bathroom at Red Cross orphanage.

An International Fundraiser grant of $2,955.91 has been sent to GVN Vietnam to help fund Tin’s surgery.

A General Project grant of $751.07 has been sent to GVN Vietnam to help build a new wheelchair for Tam at Da Nang SSC, to purchase physio equipment for the babies at Da Nang baby orphanage and to purchase swimsuits and physio supplies for the children at Da Nang SSC.

Antardristi, Nepal

An ESTC grant of $2,000 was combined with a General Project grant of $244 to support Antardristi’s work in Nepal. The funds will be used to help pay for the rent and running costs of the residential centres run by Antardristi.

Sunshine House, Thailand

An ESTC grant of $2,000 will be used to hire a vocational trainer at Sunshine House in Thailand. The trainer will teach three classes in sewing, hairdressing and card-making to help empower and enable the girls at this project.

FVA, Rwanda

An ESTC grant of $4,884.40 has been sent to FVA to support a chicken project at Mpore Pefa Orphanage in Rwanda. The funds will be used to purchase 25 new chickens and chicken feed, and the chicken house will be expanded.

Springs of Hope High School, Uganda

An ESTC grant of $5,000 has been sent to Grassroots Development Trust to support Springs of Hope High School in Uganda. The funds will be used to pay for the teacher’s salaries.

The Real Uganda

An ESTC grant of $4,714.88 has been sent to The Real Uganda. These funds will be used to complete the goat project at Johnson Nkosi Memorial School, and to start a piggery at PACE. PACE provides education, food and care to needy children and orphans in Mukono District in Uganda. The funds for the piggery will go towards renting land, building a shelter, purchasing 1 male and 2 female pigs, as well as the feed and vaccinations required.

A sponsorship grant of $154.14 and a general grant of $134.99 has been sent to The Real Uganda to assist with the ongoing running costs of Hope for Africa Children’s Village.

VICDA, Kenya

A sponsorship grant of $162.72 and a general grant of $124.56 has been sent to VICDA to assist with paying for hospital bills for children from Happy Life Children’s Home.

A sponsorship grant of $219.96 has been sent to VICDA to purchase food supplies for Shelter Children’s Home.

Maximo Nivel, Costa Rica

An ESTC grant of $2,476.56 has been sent to Maximo Nivel in Costa Rica. These funds will be used to support a soup kitchen in La Carpio shanty town in San Jose, Costa Rica.

MMHCHA, Ethiopia

An ESTC grant of $5,000 has been sent to MMHCH. The funds will be used to identify and screen 18 children to join the MMHCH rehabilitation center; to provide educational support to 71 reunified street children; to provide business training and start up capital for 30 underprivileged families; and to organize three reunion events for the children.

A General Project grant of $415.62 has been sent to MMHCH to purchase blankets, sheets, household materials and soap to improve the lives of 15 families.
