Grants A grant of $1,147 was sent to Ethiopia on June 9th. This was a program fee donation and will be used to purchase computers for Mercy Ministry Home.
A sponsorship grant of $601.01 was sent to CETU in Uganda to assist with the running costs of Springs of Hope school.
ZOTE Projects in South Africa was sent a $10,000 grant from Intel thanks to Mark Russell. The grant will be used to build a magnificent library and learning center in Manamani Village.
$5600 was sent to Haiti to be used as micro grants to support volunteer-led projects. I will update this on the GVNF site. Examples of the types of projects that are being carried out with these funds are:
- Voices of Croix de Bouquets Grant: A volunteer is collecting the written and oral stories generated by members of the community along with photos and illustrations. These stories will be published into a book and will be distributed back to the members of the community. GVN Foundation is covering the printing and postage costs.
- Community Benches Grant: Volunteers are building beautiful, colourful benches to distribute to local schools and orphanages in Jacmel. GVN Foundation is covering the costs of purchasing the timber and tools.
- Medical Grant: In memory of a little boy called Lele from a local orphanage in Jacmel, volunteers have been taking the children from this orphanage to receive medical check-ups. GVN Foundation is covering the costs of the medical attention and medicines.
- Construction Grant: A new structure is being built at a small orphanage in Jacmel to provide a temporary solution for their desperate need for more space. GVN Foundation covered the costs of purchasing timber, tarps and tools.
Peruvian Hearts: International Fundraiser Grants
- $144.72 to assist with the running costs of Huchuy Yachaq community center
- $279.08 to support children at Associacion Wara community center
- $96.35 to assist with the running costs of Associacion Wara community center
Peruvian Hearts: Sponsorship Grant
- $85.86 to assist with the running costs of the Hogar Mercedes de Jesus in Anta
VICDA Kenya
- 1. ESTC/Kili Grant = $11,807.60: This grant will be used to support a variety of orphanages and schools in Kenya both with immediate needs and long-term sustainability projects. The grant will also be used to build 7 houses for IDPs at Pipeline IDP camp.
- 2. Sponsorship Grant = $143.10: This grant will be used to support Shelter Children’s Home in Kenya.
VSN Nepal
- $1,616.49 General Project Grant – This is to help meet the final payments and set-up costs for the Shining Stars Childrens Home build.
- $2,001.63 General Project Grant – This is to help cover the quarterly running costs for Brighter Future Childrens home.
- $4,334.70 Everest Hike Grant – This is also to help cover the quarterly running costs for Brighter Future Childrens home.
