The GVN staff are been deeply saddened by the terrible loss of life and suffering of more than 40,000 people following the disastrous earthquake in China’s Sichuan Province on 12 May.
Our hearts also go out to our partners and volunteers in China who are all feeling the effects of a country in mourning.
Our friend Jack Liu, GVN China partner, has written the following poem in an expression of grief.
Mourning China May 12 Earthquake
I ask the sky,
Why tells us the lie?
Tears are dry,
Death is bye.
I don’t cry,
Do you know why?
China is high,
Love won’t die!

Thank you for sharing your poem with us Jack, our thoughts are with you.
Please note that while GVN is unable to facilitate the placement of volunteers in the areas that have been directly affected by the earthquake, our Rural and Urban China Program are still fully operational and in need of volunteers.
