GVN Foundation sent $25,140.64 to our partner in Romania to support the running costs of one of their group homes during the winter.

Just in time for winter wood for all 4 houses = $8000. This was the biggest immediate problem solved!

The rest will be used for food ($9000), electricity, school supplies, and some small Christmas presents.

Join us in our walk across Spain. Did you say WALK? - May 11-25, 2008

GVN is excited to announce another far-flung fundraising adventure - El Camino 2008!

Join us as we walk the final 11 days of the Camino de Santiago, a magnificent route through the Spanish countryside, to raise money to help the children of Romania.

Over the last thousand years the El Camino pilgrimage has expanded from a spiritual quest, for some, into a personal journey of exploration, adventure and simplicity for others.

Participants will have the opportunity to see things, people, and places you would never notice from a bus or train window, and have the added satisfaction of knowing their money will go directly to our partner in Romania - a Christian Mission that cares for disabled orphans.

Romania Volunteer Projects

The Global Volunteer Network has volunteer opportunities available early next year through our partner organization in Romania. Volunteers have the opportunity to join a Christian Mission which cares for disabled orphans. There are four group homes, and volunteers will work with orphans aged from ten year old children to young adults. The children have suffered so much at a young age, but with your help they will see a brighter future.

Clair O’Hara writes about her experience in Romania:
“The 7 1/2 months I spent at the Tanner Romania Mission have been have been life changing! The kids are beyond amazing. Spending time with them was a fantastic experience. We worked on projects in the workshop, took walks through the village, had picnics in the forest, we organized a sports day so the whole gang could be together for some fun. TRM makes birthdays and holidays extra special for the kids too! I’ve already been back once and plan to go back again as soon as possible.”
