Volunteer Feedback from Kilimanjaro

Peter

"I loved it-I would definitely recommend it to anyone who is interested. I think the experience itself was incredible, but what I liked most about it was the people I met. I am referring to both the wonderful, likeminded people who also did the climb, and also the porters, guides, and kids in the schools and orphanages. It was a once in a lifetime experience for me."

MiSuk

"Time with the fellow team members was enriching experience. The actual Trek was physically, mentally, and emotionally challenging but, equally awesome experience. The visits to the schools and orphanages made the overall trip worth it."

Jessica

"I felt that those two [project] days completely changed the trip for me. Climbing Kilimanjaro was definitely an amazing experience, but those two days visiting the projects touched me in a way that the mountain never could. You guys picked some amazing places for us to visit, and seeing what a difference we could make in those kids lives was truly something I'll never forget."

Amanda

"It was awesome and a once in a lifetime experience. I am so grateful to have had the opportunity to climb the mountain for such a great cause and with such a great group of people."

Kaye

"It was worth every blister I got (and every penny I spent)."

"The climb and the site visits had totally different impacts on me. Both were unforgettable. The project visits touched my heart and made me want to do more for those in need. The climb touched my sense of adventure and awe for the beauty of this world."

Melissa

This was the most amazing experience I’ve ever had. The hike was mentally, physically and emotionally challenging, but so rewarding once I made it to the summit! The project days definitely opened my eyes and taught me a lot. It was difficult to see the conditions the children live in, but I realized that it really takes so little to make a difference. The children were absolutely joys to be around!

The guides were absolutely fantastic and tremendously helpful. They helped motivate and encourage us throughout the entire trek.

Luke

It was fantastic. The trip itself was well organized and the staff was great. The program was just what they said it would be!

Lori

Overall, I feel that the GVN Mt. Kilimanjaro Climb Fundraiser has been an absolute life-altering experience…I went home a much different person!

The project visits were ‘eye-opening’, ‘important to see and learn’; as well as ‘heart-breaking’…I cried for days and days during and afterwards; and, am forever changed because now I really know
