Colin Salisbury 's Profile

Founder and President

Colin has achieved a masters in International Development and travelled worldwide. He has worked in a number of volunteer organisations locally before setting up Global Volunteer Network including work in Youth for Christ and World Vision which are both internationally recognised. From here Colin moved to Government department work for Internal Affairs in the area of Community development. Colin enjoys the outdoor life that New Zealand offers including all water sports but particularly sailing as well as tramping and skiing. As well as having a direct overview of the programs that Global Volunteer Network offers internationally, Colin also oversees the development of the GVN Foundation based in Denver, Colorado.

An Interview with Colin Salisbury

When people ask you 'where are you from' what is your reply:

Proud to be a "Kiwi" who was brought up in a sea side community called Eastbourne.

When people ask 'where do you work' what's your response:

Where ever there is need! Sometimes on an "airplane" is a more accurate response.

When people then ask 'and what do you do at GVN', what it your reply:

Hmmm... Being a creator I spend alot of my time deveoping new programs and promoting our work.

Why did you end up working at GVN?:

I started it so I guess I have no one to blame but myself.

What's the best thing about working for GVN?

Seeing first hand the impact our volunteers have. There is nothing greater than this.

When you're not at work, what's your favourite activity?

Hanging with my girls. Then movies and fine wine...

What's your favourite food?

I love food from a range of cultures. Thai, Indian and Ethiopian are up there!

If you could be animal, what would it be?

Eagle... so I can see the big picture...

If you could go anywhere just now, where would it be?

Space... New worlds... New Cultures...

Who are your favourite bands/musicians?

Pink Floyd, the Rolling stones and the Who. Then Black Eyed Peas, Cold Play and U2.
